Teaching Surveys Are Open Now Through Dec. 10
The Teaching Survey period is underway, and surveys are available to students through Dec. 10.
Take time now to work with your students on understanding the importance of surveys, and how responses can positively impact the learning environment at Pitt.
Here’s a checklist of action items you can use with your students, and in your course(s), to maximize response rates and generate meaningful feedback:
- Let students know surveys are open and where to find survey links.
- Dedicate class time for students to complete surveys.
- Create a unique QR code for your survey to display in class.
- Ask students to be specific in their comments and provide examples. The University of Michigan provides a nice guide for students [PDF – 61KB] on this topic.
- Check response rates regularly for your course(s), and consistently remind students to complete the surveys.
- Send a personal reminder to your students, and post an announcement in Canvas. Include:
- A link to our video about giving unbiased and constructive feedback.
- A unique QR code that will take students directly to your survey.
- Reassure students that the responses you receive are anonymous and you don’t see the results until after final grades have been posted.
