Dedicate Class Time for Students to Complete Teaching Surveys

Dedicating class time to discuss the value of student feedback, how it’s used, and asking students to complete surveys can motivate students to respond. Research shows that students are more likely to provide feedback when faculty are actively engaged in the process.

Before your scheduled class time for students to complete surveys, go to your teaching survey dashboard to verity that a survey is open for your class.

  • Schedule 10 to 15 minutes at the beginning of class during the survey period.
  • Discuss with students the importance of providing effective feedback and how it’s used.
  • Share the two-minute video of a Pitt student perspective on teaching surveys on Panopto.
  • Create and display a unique QR code that will take students directly to your survey. Survey links are also posted in Canvas.

If time runs short, let students know they can always log back in and complete surveys before the deadline. Follow up with a personal reminder toward the end of the survey period.
