OMET End-of-term Surveys header. The Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching (OMET) administers end-of-term student opinion of teaching surveys for all classes. The OMET survey service is designed to assist schools and departments with the mission of conducting student opinion of teaching surveys. The OMET process follows guidelines to maintain confidentiality and effective systematic practices.

Surveys are automatically activated for all courses except those offered in the School of Medicine. Courses or faculty may be opted out (link to the new opting out of surveys page) of the survey process. Faculty teaching classes or sections of cross listed classes in the School of Medicine should contact us to request a survey.

Survey Schedule

Standard dates are applied to surveys. Surveys are open during the last three weeks of class meeting days ending the day before finals week. Some schools choose to modify their dates, faculty should check with school administrators for survey date information.

Surveys for low enrollment classes

Surveys for all classes are automatically activated regardless of enrollment. Decisions about whether to administer surveys for low enrollment classes for purposes of including the data in aggregate reporting are made at the school and department level. There are special reporting guidelines for faculty reports.

Surveys for classes with multiple instructors

Students receive one survey with one set of course questions and a set of instructor questions (identified by name) for each instructor. Instructors receive the results to the course questions and to their own individual questions. Additional custom questions added by instructors are assigned to the instructor, results to those questions are not distributed to all instructors.

Survey Questions

Each school uses an approved standard questionnaire. School forms are applied to each survey and cannot be altered. Instructors may add custom questions from our question library or write their own.

Where to find survey links

Surveys are administered online. Email notifications containing survey links are sent to students. Survey links appear on Canvas or can be found by going directly to the teaching survey dashboard or using a QR code. Our student page  provides more details.
