Matt Roberts serves as the Graduate Student Assistant for Teaching Support. He is a doctoral candidate in Out-of-School Learning in the University of Pittsburgh’s EdD program where he is completing his dissertation on the relationship between student agency and teacher scaffolding in experiential learning programs. Matt has over twenty years of experience in secondary education and currently serves as the Social Studies Department Chair at Pine-Richland High School where he teaches World History, Asian Studies, and AP Psychology. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA-Pitt) with whom he has traveled throughout East Asia, co-leading a study tour of China in 2019. His work with NCTA also includes leading workshops on integrating Asia related content into the K-12 Curriculum. Matt is a 2016 PA Teacher of the Year finalist and recipient of the University of Chicago’s Outstanding educator Award.
