Dr. Radzilowicz promotes faculty and graduate student teaching excellence at the University by leading a highly trained team of Teaching & Learning Consultants who specialize in pedagogy, teaching practice, and assessment. They support the development of all instructors at Pitt through consultations, designing and presenting workshops and seminars, course design and review, and grant and special project support. These efforts include the Graduate Student Teaching Initiative, the Assessment of Teaching Initiative, and the University-wide Ad Hoc Committee on Generative AI in Education & Research, which John co-chairs.
John came to the Teaching Center with a wide range of experience over his more than 30 years in education. This includes serving as the chief education officer, and senior scientist, at the Carnegie Science Center, where he also directed the Buhl Planetarium & Observatory, the Teacher Excellence Academy, and the Center for STEM Education and Career Development. John holds an EdD in Instruction & Learning, with a concentration in STEM, from the University of Pittsburgh. He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level for over 30 years and is an adjunct instructor in the Physics & Astronomy Department here at Pitt.
