J. D. Wright earned his PhD in English from Pitt after a decade-long legal career in Pittsburgh; he earned his JD and BA from The College of William and Mary. As a teaching and learning consultant with Teaching Support, J. D. focuses on student engagement, student writing, and the basics of nuts-and-bolts pedagogy. He also works closely with Open Lab and supports instructors with consultations about the equipment and expertise found there. J. D. teaches a wide range of courses for the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, and he lives with his hound mix, Shiloh, in Squirrel Hill.
