Submitting an Assignment Through Turnitin

Go to the assignment in your course. If it is using Turnitin, it will look like the screenshot below. Click on the “Upload Submission” button.

A popup window will appear. You can upload several different kinds of submissions: a document from your computer [1], typing in a textbox (not recommended) [2], or choosing a document from Google Drive, Box, or OneDrive [3]. Your Submission Title [4] will be whatever your document is saved as by default. Click on the “Browse” button [5] to search for a document on your computer. Once you have chosen your file, click on the “Upload and Review” button [6].

You can review your document to make sure it is the correct one that you would like to submit. Once you are done reviewing, click the “Submit to Turnitin” button.

Close out of the popup window. You will be back at your Turnitin Assignment Dashboard. You should see a green notification saying that your “Submission uploaded successfully” [1]. If you click on the name of the assignment [2] you will see more information about the assignment such as the due date, feedback release date, and the max amount of points the assignment is worth.  Clicking on the title of the paper [3] will take you to a preview of your submission. You can download both the original submitted document [4] and the digital receipt of the submission [5].

The Summary tab [1] will show you some of the assignment settings. You can view the rubric [2] that is attached to the assignment here and also any additional settings [3] such as if late or re-submissions are allowed.

Using PeerMark

If your instructor has created an assignment that uses PeerMark, once everyone has submitted their assignments, the PeerMark Reviews tab [1] will have a glowing red dot next to it, indicating you have papers to review. Click on the “View Details” button [2] to see the assignment details such as review start and end dates and when Peer Feedback will be available. Click on “Start Peer Review” [3] to review your peer’s assignments. You must review all papers that appear under PeerMark Reviews to get full credit for the assignment unless your instructor has stated otherwise.

Once you are ready to start reviewing, the paper will appear in a popup. Your progress on reviewing [1] will show at the top of the page. To be at 100% completion status, you need to have read every page, made at least one comment, and answered all the questions related to the review (if your professor has provided any). Click on the “Tools” tab [2] to open your commenting tools. You can change the color of the text, highlighter, and even add in common review annotations [2]. You can add a comment [3] anywhere on the paper by clicking and highlight sections [4] on the paper by clicking and dragging. Your instructor may have included questions [5] that you must answer that are part of the assignment.  You can “Save” [6] and come back to reviewing or if you are finished and wish to turn in your review, click the “Submit” button [7].
