Q: What work experiences led you to this position with the University Center for Teaching and Learning?
A: Before being hired at Pitt I worked in various accounting positions for nonprofit organizations. I always admired the University of Pittsburgh as a whole and thought it would be great to become a Pitt employee. I initially started my career at Pitt as a temp employee working for the Student Organization Research Center. My next temp assignment was with the Teaching Center, restructuring different business and accounting processes. Subsequently, I was hired FT as the Payroll Coordinator.

Q: What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now? What makes it so interesting?
A: I just onboarded 18 student workers at the beginning of the fall term to assist the Teaching Center in different units. The COVID-19 pandemic moved a lot of HR processes from physical paperwork to solely online completion with new standards and guidelines. Working with supervisors at the Center to onboard these students has been an exciting challenge, and it’s something that I’m glad to add as work experience to my resume.

Q: What do you love most about your job and why?
A: I love the flexibility that the Teaching Center provides. Handling payroll, human resources, and accounting responsibilities can be a lot to deal with, especially during a pandemic when the majority of the job processes have been renewed and upgraded to fit the new normal. The Teaching Center gives me the flexibility as well as support that is needed for me to do my job correctly and sufficiently.
