Q: What work experiences led you to this position with the University Center for Teaching and Learning?
A: I started at Pitt in 2009 as a temp for the department of Critical Care Medicine. I was hired full time after four years as a temp and my role developed into me being the primary support person for both instructional and audio/visual technology. I was also responsible for producing promotional videos and graphics for the web and other media outlets. Being highly impressed with the Teaching Center, I decided to apply for an open position in 2017. I was hired to join the Classroom Services team and the rest is history.

Q: What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now? What makes it so interesting?
A: Right now I am partnering with my colleague, Isis Duncan, to digitize the Anatomy Lab’s specimen collection. Isis makes weekly trips to the lab to take professional, high resolution photos of specimens and models. I digitally develop, edit, and organize the photos for review. This work is leading up to the opening of the Health Sciences Anatomy Museum. Upon opening, the specimens and models will be on display. We will then take VR imagery of the space and plot the photos we have been taking as hotspots for detailed view. This resource will be used by all the Health Science programs at Pitt.

Q: What do you love most about your job and why?
A: My favorite part of this job is the satisfaction of problem solving. I thoroughly enjoy troubleshooting and working through issues with my clients. I really love to help people and this job provides great opportunities to do just that.
