In the Teaching Commons, Meiyi Song designs and facilitates faculty workshops, develops interactive learning objects, and guides faculty in curriculum design and traditional and online course implementation. Prior to joining Pitt, Meiyi worked as a Faculty Development Specialist and an Assistant Professor of Chinese at the Defense Language Institute in California.
Meiyi is proficient in authoring tools like Captivate, which she uses to enhance learning experience. She has taught several online and hybrid faculty development courses, designed and conducted workshops that focus on pedagogy and technology integration in teaching. She has an MA degree in Instructional Science and Technology from the California State University at Monterey Bay. She also has an MSEd. degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Pennsylvania.
Her areas of interest include: faculty development, gamification, pedagogical use of technology, cross-cultural communication, language instruction, e-Learning, mobile learning, and instructional design.
