As the Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Joy is responsible for managing high-level initiatives, events, and committees, working closely with Teaching Center colleagues, staff in the Office of the Provost and faculty. Joy began her Pitt career in 2011 with the Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching (OMET) before transitioning to then CIDDE now the Teaching Center. After spending almost two years helping build a new division (The Aging Institute) in the Department of Medicine, Pitt School of Medicine, she returned to the Teaching Center in 2019. She is a member of the University Staff Council and serves on the Campus Well-being Consortium. Joy earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) with a Certificate in Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh and has previously held positions as a therapist/counselor at Gateway Rehab and Southwood Psychiatric Hospital.
