How Can I Add Quiz Questions to a Video?

Incorporating quiz questions into your educational videos is a great way to boost student engagement and information retention in your course. There are several ways to add quiz questions to your videos and receive the resulting data.

Panopto Video Quiz Tool

  • Panopto allows you to add autograded quiz questions within your videos. You can select from four different question types (True/False, Multiple Choice, Multiple Select and Fill in the Blanks), add answer explanations & feedback, and require students to complete quizzes at specific timestamps before advancing through the video.
  • Quiz results and grades can be downloaded in .csv format for most spreadsheets. Panopto Video quizzes can also be configured as graded assignments within Canvas using the Panopto-Canvas integration.

  • Edpuzzle is a tool that you can use to add quizzes to videos uploaded, recorded in Edpuzzle or retrieved from YouTube. You can add quizzes to specific timestamps in your video for students to complete.
  • TED Ed offers a tool to create quizzes for students to complete after watching YouTube videos.
  • Both Edpuzzle and TED Ed allow you to add multiple choice questions, open ended questions, hints, and feedback to your quiz. Student results can be reviewed in browser and grades can be downloaded in .csv format. Students do not need an account for these services to complete quizzes and have their results collected.
