The University of Pittsburgh will transition to the Canvas Learning Management System during the 2019-2020 academic year. To prepare for this transition, our center has a number of resources and workshops available for instructors. Visit our Canvas @ Pitt web pages to learn more about this transition, how it will impact you in the coming months, and how we can help. Starting Dec. 16, instructors can participate in a number of workshops aimed at preparing the campus community for Canvas.
We are pleased to offer a new workshop from the Center for Mentoring, entitled Mentoring Faculty: A Facilitated Panel, on Thursday, October 25, starting at noon. This session will address topics such as the role mentoring plays in the career trajectory of faculty, how to be a better mentor, and how faculty can find the right mentors at the right time. Professor Anne Robertson from the Swanson School of Engineering will facilitate the session, hosted in 211 David Lawrence Hall.
On March 2, our staff will host a Community Engagement in the Curriculum workshop in the William Pitt Union. This serves as a pre-conference event to the Community Engaged Scholarship Forum on March 3. Come learn about opportunities and challenges in doing community engagement work with students and others, and obtain resources that can strengthen networking with community partners. Please register online to attend. Lunch will be provided.
