The University of Pittsburgh renewed its participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) this month, which allows Pitt to enroll students from all 50 states (and more) into its online programs. While the full impact of joining SARA can not be calculated until the end of this academic year, Pitt Online has already set a new high mark with out-of-state enrollments in just the fall and spring terms. The Teaching Center has purchased an institutional license to attend the ninth annual virtual conference, Transforming the Teaching & Learning Environment, hosted by the University of Idaho. For 10 weekdays starting Monday, Feb. 12, there will be 60 one-hour live and interactive sessions on topics like gamification, mobile learning, flipped classrooms and emerging technologies. This is a great way to engage with education professionals from all over the world.

Pitt is one of 27 distinguished academic research and teaching institutions around the country involved in a public-private partnership with the U.S. State Department, called the Diplomacy Lab. Through this partnership, Pitt faculty can work with students on cross-disciplinary global policy challenges that address complex, real-world issues ranging from climate change, cybersecurity, human rights and democracy, global health, counter-terrorism, and more.
