The Teaching Center has published a new page with information for remote access to courses. As a reminder, instructors and students on the Pittsburgh campus can choose between being in the classroom or using Zoom for synchronous course delivery for another week. On Sept. 13, all classes are expected to transition to in-person.

Remote Access to Courses
The University will offer flexibility to both students and instructors by allowing remote access to courses during the first two weeks of the term, with some exceptions as noted in today’s announcement from the Office of the Provost. At the end of this period, all classes will be in-person beginning on Monday, Sept. 13. During this time, instructors and students will have the flexibility to choose between being in the classroom or using Zoom for synchronous course delivery.

Register to Attend: Provost's Fall Workshop Series on Student Success
The Teaching Center, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, will present a series of virtual workshops on Student Success throughout the fall term. The first is scheduled for Aug. 18, and is now open for registration. This workshop will provide an overview of the test-optional admissions policy at Pitt and data from the current admissions cycle for fall 2021. We will also identify and discuss possible implications and strategies for student success to support all our students as we prepare for the fall term. Learn more and register:

Applications Open: Provost's Award for Diversity in the Curriculum
Applications are open for the Provost's Award for Diversity in the Curriculum. This award recognizes faculty who have modified their course or revised curricula to strengthen diversity and inclusion, resulting in changes of impact. Any full-time or part-time Pitt faculty member who has participated in diversity initiatives at the University may apply for this award. Please encourage faculty who have embraced inclusive teaching practices to submit an application. Applications are due Oct. 15. Registration Open: Diversity Forum 2021
Registration is open for Diversity Forum 2021, scheduled for Monday, July 26, through Thursday, July 29. The forum, “Dismantling Oppressive Systems: Building Just Communities,” is online, free, and open to all. This year’s forum sessions and workshops will engage and equip participants with the knowledge, skills and resources to identify sources of systemic oppression, consider strategies for dismantling that oppression, and identify actions critical in fostering more equitable and just communities in which to live, work and learn.
