As fall term and a new academic year approaches, we’ve gathered together information on new Teaching Center services, resources, spaces, workshops, and more below!

New Services
- Canvas Course Shell Best Practices Review: For instructors who teach face-to-face or hybrid courses we offer a review process to ensure your Canvas course follows evidence-based best practices for digital educational materials.
- A new, easier way to administer bubble sheet exams: Gradescope Bubble Sheets.
New Resources
- Updated guidance and resources are available on our ChatGPT Resources for Faculty page.
- Self-paced asynchronous course for instructors: Teaching with Panopto.
New Spaces
- Open Lab @ Hillman, a collaboration between the Teaching Center and University Library System, is entering its first fall term in the newly renovated first floor of Hillman Library. See how you can incorporate our services into your teaching and research by dropping in during open hours or visiting our website.
New Workshops
DEI
- Trans-Affirming Pedagogy: This workshop, facilitated by Jesse Jack (she/they), discusses trans-affirming pedagogy, creating space for University-wide faculty to consider ways to design trans-affirming syllabi and materials.
- Queer Praxis Workshop: This workshop, facilitated by Josie Rush, will discuss queer praxis in the classroom.
- Beyond Diversifying: Engaging in Decolonization in Teaching and Learning: In this workshop we consider decolonization in teaching and learning, specifically thinking about how we can reimagine Eurocentric classrooms and curricula.
- Anti-Racist Pedagogy Workshop: This three-hour, in-person workshop will introduce and engage with the scholarship of anti-racist pedagogy. Breakfast will be provided.
Technology
- Creating Interactive Course Elements using H5P: H5P is a set of interactive tools that can be used within a Canvas course or on their own. This session will cover the first steps to getting started using H5P in your Canvas course.
- Introduction to ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Teaching: This introductory-level, hands-on workshop will provide instructors with tips for creating ChatGPT prompts to improve the efficiency or quality of their teaching materials and tasks.

- Preventing and Managing Challenging Student Behaviors: This session is designed to help instructors learn strategies for proactively preventing challenging student behaviors and responding to in-class disruptions.
