New Faculty Learning Community

In spring, the Teaching Center will pilot a new faculty learning community.

The Equity and Inclusion Faculty Learning Community (FLC) will bring together instructors (faculty and graduate student teaching assistants) to explore topics related to equitable and inclusive teaching and mentoring, as well as share experiences and strategies. All participants will collaborate through synchronous, remote Zoom meetings. After each session, supplemental, curated resources will be provided to help participants extend their learning.

During spring 2022, the pilot semester, this FLC will meet for one hour in January, February, and March.

Potential topics could include:

  • Instructor identities and positionality
  • Student identities and experiences
  • Teaching and mentoring strategies to advance equity and inclusion
  • Classroom culture and cultivating an inclusive climate
  • Reflecting and strategizing for change

Sessions will be coordinated by the Teaching Center and facilitated and led by members of the FLC. Participants can attend as their availability permits and are not expected to attend all three sessions. Registration to each of the three events will be processed through Pitt’s Events Calendar.
