Gradescope, a popular grading software, is now available for all Pitt faculty and students at no cost. The software makes administering many paper-based assessments much easier for instructors, while simultaneously providing students with quicker and more meaningful feedback on their work.
Faculty from many Pitt departments have used the software in previous terms, and their experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. In addition to improving many traditional assessments, Gradescope also has advanced features for online student submissions and auto-grading features for computer programming assignments.
This quick video gives an overview of how it works.
Gradescope also offers LMS integration with both Blackboard and Canvas, which allows instructors to sync rosters and grades between the two systems. Gradescope is offering two introductory webinars for Pitt faculty and teaching assistants on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from noon to 1 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. To reserve a spot and get more information, please visit the registration page. Gradescope has also created a “Get Started” guide for a self-paced introduction. Interested faculty can also set up a consultation with the LMS Support and Consulting team to explore using Gradescope in their courses.
