Canvas Demo Courses Now Available!

As of Dec. 2, 2019 Canvas demo courses have now been created for all faculty and teaching assistants based on the available data. The demo courses can be accessed via the Pitt Canvas site. Faculty or teaching assistants that do not yet have a demo course but would like one can arrange it  by submitting a Canvas demo course request. All official summer 2020 (2207) courses will be created in Canvas based on the official listings in PeopleSoft, just as they have in Blackboard for previous terms. We expect summer course creation to happen in early February.

Until that time, these demo courses are intended to provide an early hands-on look at Canvas for all of our faculty and teaching assistants. While they can’t be used for active instruction, they will be a useful tool for learning how to use Canvas. They can also be used as a place to develop content for future terms. Copying content between courses in Canvas is very easy, so anything you build can be copied into your official course at a later date.

This is just one of the many things we’ve been working on to make the transition between Blackboard (CourseWeb) as smooth as possible. We’re also scheduling regular training opportunities in the months to come, bulk importing two years of Blackboard content, and working on some other resources dedicated to the transition. We’ll continue to share the latest information on this website, so stay tuned for updates on these things and more.
