The latest edition of our TC60 video blog series spotlights orientation programs for new faculty and teaching assistants. Fall term is underway here at Pitt, and the University Center for Teaching and Learning welcomed more than 300 new faculty and teaching assistants to campus in late August.
Sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Teaching Center has hosted New Faculty and New Teaching Assistant Orientations for more than 20 years.
The programs introduce first-time instructors and TAs to policies and procedures, instructional services and research support. The mixture of presentation and conversation covers topics like The Pitt Student Experience, diversity and inclusion in the classroom, managing difficult situations, CourseWeb and library systems, and the resources available through the Graduate Student Teaching Initiative.
