Consultations
The Assessment of Teaching Initiative provides consultations to schools, departments, and individual faculty.
Schools and departments can request consultations to:
- Discuss how to define teaching effectiveness or articulate the characteristics of effective teaching in their discipline
- Identify or create tools to conduct formative or summative assessment of teaching
- Plan facilitated discussions or calibration exercises with faculty
- Request or plan a workshop or training for their school or department on teaching assessment. Example topics: how to compose teaching survey questions, conduct peer observations, mitigate bias in teaching assessment, offer peer feedback, or use teaching effectiveness data development
- Discuss or get assistance interpreting teaching assessment results
- Plan data-informed teaching improvements

Instructors can also request consultations for recommendations and feedback on:
- syllabus design
- course objectives
- organization and sequencing of course content and assignments
- assessments
- instructional activities
- grading schemes
- use of technology to support student learning
- integrating innovative instructional techniques
