Hello Part-Time Pitt Faculty! We know you’re in a hurry so let’s cut to the chase. This page is designed to help you get up to speed quickly and efficiently, especially with your teaching duties. We want you to do your best teaching, so we’ve put the “general info” into the first section (administrative items that must be in place before you can focus on your teaching), and everything related to teaching in the second section. Finally, if you need any kind of teaching or educational technology support, please contact us. Remember, we support you – just like we support full time faculty. Contact us for anything we can help you with that improves your teaching at teaching@pitt.edu.
You can also download the Teaching Resource Guide (PDF).
The Teaching Center periodically offers a series of professional development events designed for part-time faculty needs and schedules. These include open hours sessions and workshops. Part-time faculty can register for an open hours session or a workshop by visiting our workshops page and search for “part-time.”
On open hours dates, a teaching and learning consultant and an Educational Software Consulting consultant will be available for the duration of the session to act as a one-stop shop for answering pedagogy, course or assignment design, Canvas, and/or technology questions. Part-time faculty who sign up for open hours can drop in at any time during the hour; receive expert assistance on teaching, technology, or both; and quickly be on their way.
